Call for help

November 17, 2009

So I’m applying for this really amazing summer fellowship in New York, but they’re asking questions about what major industry person I’d like to meet and if I could take three industry field trips, where would I go, and I’m once again faced with the fact that I don’t know much about my field. So I’m frantically researching people and magazines that serve feminist and Fat Acceptance purposes, but it’s kind of just me stumbling around google hoping to hit something relevant.

So my plea for help is: Who should I look into? What magazines are progressive enough? Where are hubs for feminist and Body Acceptance activity?

Consistancy is not my strongsuit

September 1, 2009

A quandary posed to me by Sam today in the library:
Is it suicide if one personality kills another personality in a person with multiple personality disorder?
This seems really silly at first, but if you give it a good long think, I promise you’ll get really sad.

Today was very, very good. Tuesdays usually are. They’re my favorite, because I have a block of nothing but classes from 10 am to 5 pm, which makes me feel like I’ve actually done something. And, on top of this, today 2 out-of-the-ordianry things happened.
1. During my 12-2 lecture, I realized that I had to give a presentation in my 2-3 tutorial for the same class. During the break after the first hour of the lecture, I dip set to the library, where I created a powerpoint presentation (properly referenced, mind you) outlining the topic discussed in my paper, which I did not have. I made it to class with 5 minutes to spare, presented first, and didn’t even have to look at the powerpoint while presenting.
2. We got our first essays handed back to us today in my History of Australian pop culture class. My professor, Rob, said that he doesn’t give 100% grades ever. Since this paper had a potential score of 15, he did not give any marks above 14.5, and even then, he said out of his 76 students, he gave maybe a handful of these grades. One in that handful was me, the American. Awesome.

And now, let me share with you maybe my favorite commercial I have ever seen:

This video for Grain Waves chips is amazing on so many levels, and will be serving as this product will be serving as the subject for my second advertising assignment. It’s artistically satisfying, tells a story that keeps the viewer hooked until the end of the ad, and, at least for me, it makes you want the product. I wish every commercial was this imaginative. It might make me like the world of advertising, instead of just making me really sad a lot.

I know that this is not the most insightful or amazing post ever, but there is much to be done and an attention span that has been destoryed by an internet heavy life =]
